How She came to be: Anette Decille Part four

Vli the Titan....he has sixteen Charisma

Like I said, this time I will be going over my own performance compared to my initial ideas for how the character of Anette would go.  Before that however, I would like to give a quick rundown of colorful cast of characters she has been travelling with, and by colorful I mean absolutely insane.

First off let us go with the man who made Anette work for this quest, Clayrion Des Malyce.

Clayrion (The Cleric) in a fairly simple man, following the god of valor he tried to be as valorous as humanly possible for the early parts of the story. His relationship with Anette has been very brotherly up until this point. Friendly insults, jabs at her shoulder and the like have been a basic pattern for him. (Though the player: Debby tends to play that way with most of his characters thus far)  In Combat he has essentially taken the role of the pure healer, and at the current time in the story is starting to get upset with only being able to heal efficiently and not help out too much with the combat, trying to add buff's and de buffs into his book of tricks.  During the story, his religion has been greatly tested, along with his mental stability. not going into the story yet, but let's just say he has been on the wrong side of the goddess of death and temporarily lost his marbles because of it.

Talia Nirokson (The Monk) Talia is a bizarre case for a character, She wants to befriend Anette quite a bit, and Anette would like to be close friends with her...only they are members of opposing religions. Theoretically this should not mean anything for level headed people, but A) Neither of these women are level headed and B)Nirok, the god Talia follows is only a god because he stole divinity from Nidne, the goddess of fate, who split up into the twin goddesses of Luck and misfortune...who Anette just so happens to worship, as did her Mother and many of the Decille women and men alike. Anette has thus far kept her beliefs secret from Talia but for how long it will be hidden is completely unknown.   Another reason for Talia being a bizarre character to Anette is that she showed some romantic interest in Clayrion early on, and then stopped, this annoyed Anette due to Clayrion wondering slightly as well as Anette Noticing it and wondering if something or somebody was at fault.  Lastly, and unfortunately most cripplingly, The player behind Talia has recently stopped caring. The Player has completely stopped caring about the Game or the group in this particular story. The dislike of playing a melee class, lack of interest in his own character and general attitude in general has really killed Talia, making her by far the least liked character in the party from a player standpoint, which is unfortunate due to her early session relationships and the effort put forth.

Last, but certainly most, Vli the Titan (The Barbarian) What can I say about Vli?...he is the most beloved character in the year and change we have been playing as a group... the guy is nothing but amazing on nearly every level.  Vli is a halfling, with serious delusions of being a Titan...I am not kidding. Vli is under three feet tall, but believes he can touch the tops of mountains. This is a simply wonderful Gag, played out by Teleghost, the same person who drew my profile picture and the picture I used for Anette in part two.  We have to enter a gate, Vli drops to all fours and slowly and carefully crawls under it. He attempts to eat as much as a titan, yet his little halfling stomach betrays him, and my personal favourite, falling for a halfling girl named Alexandra, turning around and worrying about her well being if the relationship got physical in any way.  The way he is played is comedic genius much of the time, but it is his personality otherwise that is also memorable. Vli is a great character, for his weaknesses, his oblivious nature, his kindness and his willingness to tell people not to be intimidated by his mighty stature.   Anette and the "big guy" as she calls him have two polarizing relationships, in battle and out of it.  In combat, both act as front line attackers and have built respect with each other because of it. First as a one-upping each other relationship, into a legitimately well oiled machine. As for out of combat...Anette loves the little guy, he is funny, sweet, caring and would do anything for a friend. Vli's Barbarian nature proves a tad awkward occasionally, but it does not even begin to cut into the friendship that the two have formed. Against popular belief, Anette does not want into the sack with him....as it seems every other Woman on the planet does sans Talia.

With a basic outline of the cast I think I can get to what I was originally going to write up today.

First things first. Immediately as I built Anette I wanted her to not be the generic sword wielding bimbo that so many fictional swords women are:

I believe that I have done well in this regard, Yes Anette is attractive, but not from overly trying. she is attractive from genes, fitness and....well I like Red hair, so I think that in itself is a lock.  She is fairly oblivious of her own charms since this journey started, only noticing once when somebody was flirting with her, and only because he was a very persistent bugger, and he was nice enough to tell her of her family's past. I do plan on easing out of my comfort zone with Anette into a relationship style RP section with an NPC or player, but the latter would only happen on a new member or a death extra off the bench. She may be oblivious, but she also is a person, one who would adore companionship from the right person.

Next, I wanted her to have two very different sides, ruthless in battle, and timid but nice out of it...this I have done less of a good job at.

Even early, Anette was a one sided personality. The shy side seemed a bit subdued in battle but was most certainly there. Even in the first battle she was a bit evasive of compliments from Clayrion. I have been trying and progressively getting better at this though, recently Anette chopped down a would be extortionist with a jab of the sword through the stomach, started laughing, kicked the body from her blade and screamed in a faux rage to intimidate the rest of the man's companions. This act worked, making the men and woman flee, as one even lost control over their bladder... I was proud of my little Spitfire, her first true intimidation.

I really wanted to stress the relationship between Clayrion as more like Brother/sister than anything else.

This is no contest, I believe I have done wonderfully. Playful jabs thrown at me and back to Clayrion. Working together, even when plans are not...smart. They love each other, and not in the "let's have sex" kind of way most DnD relationships eventually turn into.

Lastly, I wanted Anette to be passionate about self inserted role of protector of Clayrion.

I regret to say, that my RPing style is so immensely subdued that this...has been a major issue. I am still not completely comfortable with acting as a character, and even less so as a Female character. I am getting better, but I am severely flawed at this. I am going to put a bit of blame on the others in the group however though, since every messed up attempt is mocked infinitely.

Now I think I am just about done here, but I think in part five we will cover miss Decilles future...or at least ambition's of one...
