First Draft of a First Chapter.

My name is Selille...
A fairly uncommon name wouldn't you say?
I usually go by Lily however, because of how unusual it is.
About twelve years ago it was an acceptable name.
Then the stars aligned to make everything begin anew.

Twelve years ago the Drow began converting.
Twelve years ago the Humans began fearing.
Twelve years ago the Elves began to die.
I am an Elf.

Over a decade on the run.
Over a decade spent hiding.
Over a decade of disguises.
Over a decade of living the life of an escaped prisoner.
I have been hunted because of who I was born as.

My Name is Selille Orrine...
I have been running or hiding for most of my adult life.
Except...

“Stupid, stupid, stupid!”
Internally screaming at myself while struggling to keep pace on a very awkward cobblestone road out of the city.
“I knew I was getting greedy after a few days!” again chastising myself internally. The small city of othath was far too paranoid and greedy to hide her for long.
“Guards always on watch and an absurd bounty for the head of any Elves, disgusting place to find a lone good Samaritan”
The family that helped me had a very kind mother, two incredibly polite and fun daughters who were a joy to spend time with...and that waste of skin Father of theirs.
The man was a piece of work, treated his wife like crap and struck fear into his children to keep any responsibility away from himself. When I got there I was a mess, running for weeks with no rest. I was dehydrated, I was malnourished and I was very weak when Alexandria and the girls found me struggling toward the inn.

They took me in, fed me, made sure I was healthy, it was my first rest in what seemed like years. Two days into my reprieve that bastard came home, yelling at his family and gesticulating like an ape. I could not stand to see such a kind woman and lovely kids being abused for one second and I snapped. This trash didn't know I was here and on reaction to a tiny woman standing up to him, he slapped the taste out of my mouth. My head whipped back and the obscuration of my ears was taken from me. Alexandria, bless her soul did not mind, however this work of Human evolution on the other hand saw me for who he wanted to see, Money. Immediately leaving the house and yelled for a guard, I thanked Alexandria and the girls and I ran out of the back door.

Running barefoot on cobblestone was not easy, keeping pace ahead of that barbaric guard was also not easy. I ran out of the city, numerous eyes on me, all of them widening with greed or false fear at the sight of my ears. A few of them even tried to tackle me down, I never felt like such a horrible person in my entire, long life. I managed to get out of the city, the guard was out of my sight until I heard something I dreaded. The Galloping of a horse was all I could hear aside from my own breath and before I knew it I felt a huge weight upon my shoulders and before I knew it I was on the ground being straddled by a guard. I remember the horrid look of satisfaction and false accomplishment in his eyes before I tried to throw a few punches. I hurt my hands on his armour and with my fifth punch, he caught my left hand, extended it on the ground and stomped on my forearm.

For the first time I could remember the pain was intense enough for me to scream out in pain. It was the worst pain I had ever felt and as I was screaming and focusing on the feeling I remembered what my potential killer or captor said.

“Not bad lookin' for a magic blooded Whore”

I immediately tried to comment on this ignorance, only to be cut off by a stomp to my head. Then a second stomp to my chest dazing me.

I could feel my vision leaving me.
I could see a disgusting smirk.
Then it went black.
However, as it did I heard something.
All I could remember was the faint whistling of an arrow in flight, then the clashing of steel.
Then absolute darkness.
